Fare Thee Well...

This is Ellie...
This is Ellie's new trick. Nice, huh? We were planning to keep her in the crib until she turned ten, but obviously, our strong-willed, dare-devil of a child had different plans. At first, we told Ellie that she could only climb out of the crib in the mornings when Mommy came in to her room to get her. She listened...for a week or so. But I knew that my luck had come to an end when I woke up from a brief nap to the sound of Ellie, right in my face, saying: "Only climb out of the crib when Mommy is there." At least she could recite the rule...even if she did blatantly ignore it. This is the last picture of Ellie's crib before it was converted to a toddler bed. It makes me a little emotional, because it could be the last time a crib resides in my home : (

Now you know why I haven't had time to blog. I'm busy "reminding" a certain small red-head to GET IN HER BED...RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE. Do you know that Kate still calls for me every morning to get her out of bed. I NEVER worry about her wondering around the house. She doesn't even get up to go to the bathroom at night. It seems that compliant, rule-oriented gene skipped right over little Ellie. Steve and I are in for at, I just know it.

  1. Christian never got out of his bed for a long, long time without asking. He would always call for me before getting up. McKenna....not so much. Naps have become a nightmare around here. Yesterday McKenna got a bottle of conditioner out of the bathroom and basically painted her whole room with it. Nice. Just what I felt like deal with on very little sleep!

  2. on a good note...love the stripe of color that runs on the wall behind her crib! What a great idea...I guess all those paint samples paid off! :)
